Zeno & Kessy Son

Hey!

Many of you have asked for a recent picture of Brystol, my half horse, half German Shepherd.  He is only 5 months old, keep in mind.  He is going to be way bigger than Rock ever was.

I hate to say this, but I think this pup is way smarter than Rock was too.  You all know how much I loved my Rock, so this is a tough thing to say.

However, this dog house trained in less than 2 weeks and we have moved into a no-fence allowed neighborhood.  Thus, the electronic, under ground fence was a necessity.  Poor thing, I hated it for him, but he learned very quickly.

He now goes out with out the collar on him and will not go past the boundaries.  What an awesome dog.  Thanks, Dennis!

Hi Dennis,

Zosia is awesome.  I cannot imagine finding a puppy easier to train.  Zosia just loves to learn.  Morgan thinks she's born to do Schutzhund, and says to tell you that he can tell it's in her blood.  He's considering training her for it when she gets old enough, just because it's so obvious that it's what she's meant to do.  She's getting big, too.  She's
past the puppy phase of being a fluff ball and is now long and lanky.  She's a gorgeous dog with a great personality.  People are always stopping us to ask about her.

I'm attaching a bunch of pictures, showing her as she got bigger - you'll recognize the first two, since you took them.

The cat is her friend and play toy.  He was raised by Caia, the GSD we lost last fall, so he loves dogs.  He plays with her constantly.  To say that Zosia listens well is an understatement.  We do spend a lot of time working with her, but at 7 months old she puts most of the grown dogs we meet to shame.  She's insanely athletic, too.  You should see her with a frisbee.

We'll stay in touch,

Julia

Nando vom Johnson-Haus (working Home)

Soldo & Xena

Hello Dennis, I am Bob Winski's friend, Al Vitale
Both young dogs are doing very well.  Nando now lives with me, Nando is a super dog .  He has over the top drive.  He seems to have a little more drive than Nico. Both dogs are very good trackers.   We have just started them back on bite work in the last 3 weeks or so. They are already up on a hard sleeve with no problems. Nando comes very
hard to the sleeve as does Nico. Their grips are always full and deep and they
are extremely calm with the sleeve. Nando is a flyer, he just launches himself
at the sleeve with all he has.  Bob and I are very happy with the way Nando and
Nico are progressing in their training at this young age.
Nando and Nico have great temperaments and are very happy dogs. They are
confident, solid young dogs and a joy to be around.

Update(7/16/05)

Hi Dennis, just wanted to pass along an update on Nando's progress  We had a
very bad winter here this year and training was almost at a stand still  Other
than a little bit of obedience in the garage we didn't do very much  At last
it's spring now and we can get back to training  Nando is doing well  His
tracking is coming along fine  He is indicating the articles and he tracks with a
lot of intensity and drive  No complaints about his obedience, his ball drive
is super His protection work is doing well also, he bites with a full hard
grip and has a lot of fight in him  He is a real flyer to the sleeve  He's
probably a little behind other dogs his age, mostly due to my inexperience and
taking most of the winter off, but we feel he should be on track for this fall to
start going for his titles  He is just a great all around dog and a very happy
dog  I couldn't be more pleased with him regardless of how far he goes in
Schutzhund  I have attached a few pictures.

Vik vom Johnson-Haus (Companion/Protection Home)

Zeno & anouk

I cant say enough about Maximus. He is absolutely the best dog I ever owned. A year and 4 months old, he is quick to learn and eager to please. He loves the kids and is ever apart of our family.

Currently Max will sit, stay, come, lay down wait, drop and fetch, and will go to each of my daughter's when their name is called. I'm working on his loose leash and he does well but of course is very eager to explore. I love his deep, booming bark when he uses it which is rare.

My wife should be contacting you soon about some basic obedience classes. I have told a co-worker of mine about you and your dogs, he should be contacting you as well.

Marko vom Johnson-Haus (Companion/Protection Home)

Zjeff & Yna

Sold as a trained adult

Marko is doing Great!!! He has completely exceeded all of our expectations.
He is just so well mannered and has such an easy going temperament.  He is
great around the kids.  Kevin, our youngest (18 mo.) has started playing
some type of chasing game with him in the evenings when we are upstairs.
Marko hasn't quite made up his mind about our cat yet.  Casper the cat stays
strictly outside and usually outside of the fence.  Marko will get up close
to the fence and bounce around a little and then take off running in the
other direction.  I tease him about being scared of an old white cat!  We
are trying to remind him not to take the ball out of our hands when playing,
but even when he took it from one of the children, he was pretty gentle.  I
am just so pleased with how well behaved he is.  One of the technicians at
the vet's said he was the best behaved German Shepherd they had, and offered
to "dog sit"  if we ever needed one!

Jason did want to ask you for the commands on having Marko bring the ball and sit
on the side of him or front?  He said you had been working with him on that,
but he could not remember the commands.

We'll try to email you some pictures occasionally.  Thanks again!

Nitro vom Johnson-Haus (Companion Home)

Soldo & Xena

Hi Dennis,
Hope all is well with you.  Just thought you'd like to see what a handsome guy Nitro has turned into.  He is 90 pounds as of last week at vet.  I just can't describe how smart, sweet and wonderful this dog is.  We couldn't want for more.   Everyone that meets him just falls in love with him.  His "ball" drive is awesome.  He will play and go for it as long as we'll do it.  He is especially fond of the frisbee.  We can't hide it.  He just senses where it is - on top of refrigerator, in the sink, on the washer and he goes and stands by it and stares back and forth between us and it.  He "fetches" the paper every morning - even in the pouring rain.  It only took 2 times to teach him.  And he's so proud when he comes in with it.

He has truly fulfilled his companion role now that my son has gone away to college last month.  Thanks again for a great puppy!

P.S. That's Scooter one of our cats on the fence - they get along great - and even our "old man"  Rudy the Siamese has adjusted to Nitro's presence.  The two cats sleep in our bed with us and Nitro is on the floor beside us each night!

Rayna vom Johnson-Haus: BH, SchH1(Working Home)

Zeno & Xena

Hey Dennis.

After having GSD's for 12 years and losing two suddenly, we came to a
decision of getting our next earlier than expected. I did a thorough study of what
I was looking for in my next Dog. Then a breeder, trainer etc. I found Dennis
Johnson. I felt comfortable talking with him, and was interested in a few of
his breedings. I chose to get a female out of his Zeno &  Xena  "R" Litter.
We picked up Reyna vom Johnson-Haus after about pulling my hair out having
to wait 16 weeks. Plus the time even before the breeding.
I told Dennis what I was looking for and what I wanted to do with her. I
wanted a dog that could fit into my family, I could train for Schutzund, have
an even temperament, etc. I gave Dennis the full authority to pick the dog for
me, with just a few comments about not saving the best for himself and not to
mess up.
Serious Dog humor, LOL. Dennis picked her out of a litter of 8 for me.
I am absolutely excited about her at 6 months. Her temperament is great, Her
drive is off the hook, but yet I am able to real her in when serious. She has
been genetically given the gift to track in which she is excelling in
naturally. She loves my 3 1/2 year old little girl and is as gentle with her as I
could desire. I feel at this time I have gotten everything I was looking for in
Reyna and what Johnson-Haus committed to doing with the Progeny of the kennel.
Advantages of  the Breeder-Trainer (JOHNSON-HAUS) is evident when you want
a quality bred dog and the training to compliment it.

  Solo vom Johnson-Haus (Working Home)

Zeno & Vina

As far as training he has started with round abouts for food (he needs to do complete turns moving his rear in front of me, in both directions, and finish straight in front of me).  This should give him control of his rear and start building an awareness of his body position in relation to mine.

I am also doing a lot of play in drive and prey drive development.  My plan is to start tracking next week when I come back from Greensboro.

Solo is a serious dog (no goofiness in him and very poised when we play and wrestle.  Surprisingly aggressive for his age and when compared to other pups in the club).  Simple things like putting him in the create without teasing him with a treat would mean a bleeding arm.  This is not at all a nervous reaction - his tail's always wagging, the top of his muzzle never wrinkles, etc-.  He just stands his ground very firmly when he want something.

He is not very vocal yet.  Although he always tries to bark to call my attention, half the time he make a silent bark.

His body structure continues to develop with great conformation and he is  thick, thick, thick boned.

Here's a few pics at different stages from 4 to 13 weeks.

That's it for now,
Alex.

  Quick vom Johnson-Haus (Companion Home)

Gandalf & Vina

Hi Dennis,

We are doing well. Chief is growing fast and he is just as beautiful as ever. He is really an eye catcher.  Every where we go folks always want to look and talk about him.  He loves to fetch his football and his little squeaky toy. Sometimes I think he could fetch forever.
He recovered from the swimming incident in Morehead and now It is really hard to get him out of the water. We go down to the eno river weekly and he swims. He will fetch sticks until I am tired then he will clean all the leaves from the water within sight. He has stayed in the water as long as 45 min. at a time. and it was only then that I had to call him out. Here is a picture I took this morning. The batteries failed me after this shot so this is the best I can do for an up to date picture.

Hope to hear from you soon.

  Quinto vom Johnson-Haus (Companion/Working Home)

Gandalf & Vina

Mr. Johnson,
Hello this is Erica Dryden McKeel I bought Quinto from you in December.  I
think I told you we call him Riley though.  Just wanted to give you an
update on how he is doing.  We are living in Lawton, Oklahoma right now and
apparently the pollen is really bad out here because Riley has developed
allergies and needed to be put on medication that he takes twice a day
during allergy season.  Besides the allergies he is very healthy and growing
into a thick dog.  He still has paws too big for his body so we are
expecting another growth spurt.  He is very intelligent and has been easy to
train.  Their are no Schutzhund clubs here in the area to work with but I am
looking for a club in Germany.  As things stand now we have orders to arrive
there in August.

Although he has had no formal training in protection work
has developed into a wonderful watch dog.  My husband was out in the field a
few days ago and Riley and I were at home by ourselves.  Around three in the
morning Riley comes to my bed (he sleeps on the floor of my room) and begins
to try and wake me.  First he licked my face then my toes and when I ignored
him he pulled the blanket off me.  I figured he had to go to the bathroom
although he usually sleeps through the night.  When I opened my bedroom door
Riley began to bark and get very excited.  I heard some commotion in my
kitchen.  By the time I got to the kitchen Riley was already there and
trying to get out the door.  The main door to my house was wide open but
the storm door was closed keeping Riley inside.  I can not say for sure but
I am 99.9% sure someone was in my house and that Riley alerted me to the
danger.  I do not believe the bugler will ever come back. I feel safe here
by myself even after the break in because of Riley and feel that if my
husband is deployed I can count on Riley to watch over me.

I somehow feel I owe you a thank you for breeding such a fine dog.  He is my constant
companion and I feel that your work with him before I brought him home gave
him a head start.  I am learning how to use my scanner so I will send you some pictures of Riley soon.  If you have any questions please e-mail me.

Nikos vom Johnson-Haus (Work/Companion Home)

Soldo & Xena

Dennis,

Nikos is just a little over a year old.  He has been absolutely awesome!  I
work daily on his training and hope to have his BH at 18 months (or at least
close to 18 months).  I take Nikos pretty much everywhere that I can.  I do
quite a bit of camping and hiking, and Nikos has been great to take along.
His temperament and drive are perfect.  Thanks again!

Marc vom Johnson-Haus (Companion Home)

Zjeff & Yna

I can fully recommend Dennis Johnson, as a breeder and as a trainer.  My husband and I started looking in 1998 for our next puppy.  Dennis was able to answer all of our questions-many very straight forward concerning the health of our puppy.  Nearly all of the others breeders we talked to got offended at reasonable questions regarding health and temperament.  We took two years to search it out and made our choice in early 2003.
We were searching for a family companion.  Dennis helped us choose a puppy whose drive and temperament is perfect for our lifestyle.  Our puppy is two years old and his temperament is rock solid.  I never worry about how he will receive people.  He easily makes friends, and I am confident of his reaction when he is approached by children or friendly strangers, yet there is no doubt that our dog will protect us and our home.  He is assertive and easily knows when he is "on duty" without being problematic.
Dennis sold us a  pup whose health has been excellent as well.  This was really a concern for us, because we had never had a good experience with the health of our previous German Shepherds.

Uma vom Johnson-Haus (Service Dog Home)

Zeno & Anouk

So far, I couldn't be more pleased with her. She in an angel,
behaviorally. We have been at work since Wednesday, and she now knows
the routine: sleep in her crate (voluntarily) in my office, wake up, go
out for potty and play, come back in for more rest in my office. She
hasn't made a peep, yet, other than whining when she needs to go out.

We've been out to a restaurant, and the grocery store, and she was
perfect in both places. As long as she is with me, she is happy. She's
also been wonderful at home, only crying for 5 minutes or so when put
in her crate at night.

I will take some pictures soon, and keep you updated on our progress.

Thanks for such a wonderful puppy,

--Jeff (and Uma)

  Uli vom Johnson-Haus

Zeno & Anouk

Uli has been a great dog thus far and we have received many comments on her everywhere we go.  She has been very confident around new people and situations and also very trustworthy around little children. She has shown a great interest in water and we're sure she will love the lake near our house this coming summer.  She is smart, curious, and stable and we think she has lots of potential to be an exceptional adult dog.

Mischa vom Johnson-Haus (Working Home)

OFA: GOOD (hips) & OFA: NORMAL (elbows)

Zjeff von der Daelenberghutte & Yna van't Enclavehof

Dennis,
Mischa is doing quite well. I have scheduled an appointment to have her hips
x-rayed on the tenth of this month. As you know we had this little storm
called Ivan that just devastated this area and upset all scheduled plans. I was
going too put a "BH" on her in Tallahassee and then her 1. That didn't workout. I
was scheduled to do a "BH" in Baton Rouge this past weekend and then the
judge canceled. I'm enclosing some training photos. You will see that our blinds
have been demolished by Ivan. Our helper is Major Jeff Pomeroy USAF. He and his
wife are quite knowledgeable in the sport. He was sent to Washington State,
and will not be back until the first of next year. Better than six months in
sandy land!  D Nightengale

Orry vom Johnson-Haus (Companion/Protection Home)

Victor & Yna

Dennis,

Orry is doing very well.  He is a very friendly and energetic dog. His play drive is very high. He could play fetch forever.  Orry gets along with other dogs very well.  He is also wonderful around kids. In the future I will be looking for a female companion for Orry and your breeding program will be on the top of my list.
